Everquest II

I think Robyyn is doing a good job of proving just how difficult (overwhelming for D&D noobs) it is to make a good ddo char with the Dwarven Warchanter build.

I dunno, I think DDO is getting past its kink and bug fix stage. The problem is they keep changing stuff and thus they have to work out new bugs. EQ2 went through the same thing, I remember there were times when you couldnt log in for entire days because they were patching something. Once DDO settles this will all pass. I know alot of people complain about these patches but I think Turbine actual does a decent job with these. Advanced warning and they are reasonable with the time they take to do there thing.

To me DDO is still the best game on the MMO market. For all the doomsday talk and this game will fail, it is still around. The only thing that hurts it is its too easy to reach end game status, and once you do all you can do is LOOT! AFter a month or so, that becomes boring and no longer fun. And what really hurts is we get 1 good mod with new content every 3-4 months but in between then they are releasing mid and lowbie ****. If we got need high level content every month, DDO would be a hell of alot stronger. I don't know why they are doing what they are doing???

I am not leaving DDO either, but I wouldnt mind dabbing into something else while I wait for the next mod to be released. Raids and POP are pretty much all I have been doing this last month or so. Just need to mix it up alittle or just take a break.

EQ2 does get alot more challenging but not really until you reach levels 30-40+. We used to joke around and say they should just start all your characters off at level 21 (where you obtain your sub-class). Epic monsters can be rather difficult to take down, especially the 2 dragons. The problem is having them spawn, but I do remember one time when I was running through the plains in Freeport and suddenly a dragon and her 2 babies landed as I was running by. BTW the dragons look gay as hell, there like mangled stick figured dragons. Pretty neat how that whole system works out. But yeah EQ2 can be quite challenging, and really relies on good teamwork rather than figuring out how to do something or some puzzle.

Another cool aspect of it is if your party wipes your soul stones drops wherever it is you died and you pretty much have to return and retrieve it or suffer the death penalty. Alot of times I would get into **** that was way over my head and then half the fun was trying to get my soul stone back. Neat concept.

But yeah if DDO is the only MMO you have really played, EQ2 is gonna be almost completely alien to you. Theres a whole different in-game mechanic to it. The thing I like about DDO is this mechanic, I really feel like I am behind the wheel when I play my character as opposed to stuff like EQ2 where I can load a macro, go watch a movie and come back and obtain next level.

I dunno both have there qualities that make them good and I have my reasons for liking them both.
